Black Stars players guilty for Muntari’s villain tag – Badu

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu believes he and the crop of players he shared the national team with owe a lot to Sulley Muntari.

Muntari has not represented the national team since his fallout with management of the GFA in 2014.

According to Agyemang Badu, Muntari always stood up for his teammates who never backed him up in public.

He believes this has fortified the wrong perception that Muntari was a trouble maker within the team.

“I think as players we did not help Sulley Muntari in some situations. I am also guilty I cannot exclude myself. Most of the time he stood up for the team. However, we never mentioned it when we were out of camp. He would receive all the bashing because everyone is looking out for himself. I need to be real because there are times when it really hurts me,” he said in an interview on Citi TV’s Sports Tracker.

Reacting to quality of football pitches in the Ghana Premier League, Badu said the poor state of playing surfaces makes it impossible to fully appreciate the craft of the players.

“The pitches don’t allow us to see the quality of the players and it is very worrisome. Just recently I read that the GFA had revoked the license of Liberty Professionals, but they are not the only ones.”

He continued, “If they want to start revoking licenses, then they will stop the league because six clubs are using the Accra Sports Stadium.

“We need to revive the pitches and see the quality of the players, because at times when you are watching the games and you don’t know much about football, you won’t see the quality, but when you have a good idea about football, you will see the quality in the players.”
