Black Stars winning bonus Ready: Liaison team confirms
The Spokesperson of the FIFA and Government Liaison Team, Dan Kwaku Yeboah has confirmed the initial winning bonus for the Black stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya in Nairobi next month.
The Ghana national team, Black stars previously were given $10,000 as winning bonus and later slashed by 50% when the ruling government, New Patriotic Party, assumed office.
Following the reforms in the country’s football, many thought the government will cut down the Black stars winning bonus, however Dan Kwaku Yeboah insist it will be maintained.
“The players will be given $5,000 as winning bonus. The government has made it clear to us (Liaison team) that the players will be given a cheque of cedi equivalent to the amount ($5,000),” Kwaku Yeboah told Oyerepa FM.
“But the only physical cash the players will receive is the per diem,” he added.
The Black stars will camp in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, before they move to Kenya for their 2019 AFCON qualifier on September 7th, 2018.
