Blame Games Hit Shocked NPP …Big Boys Fingered In Anger

Even before dust settles on the abysmal performance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the recent general elections, key members of the Party have fingered National Security, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and the conduct of some of the party’s National Executive members as factors that led to the massacre it suffered at the polls.

Member of Parliament for the Subin Constituency; Eugene Boakye Antwi, former Member of Parliament for Asokwa; Maxwell Kofi Jumah and former aspiring parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South; Kwabena Addo Amankwah in separate interviews with Okay FM on Tuesday morning poured their hearts out in a jaw-dropping revelations.

Kofi Jumah

“A lot more will come after the dust settles, a lot more would come up and some of it bothers on National Security. Of course the NPP would need to sit back and look at the weaknesses within the system.

“They have an explanation they owe to Ghanaians, to everybody and to the future of Ghana’s democracy. I am privy to certain information I cannot put in the public domain but I can tell you that the National Security has to come in to explain”, Maxwell Kofi Jumah told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM Tuesday morning.

He noted further: “I insist the National Security has to come in to explain; that answer lies with them. They are not coming in to change the results but they have an explanation to make for the peace of this country.”

Kofi Jumah disagreed with the notion that the campaign team did not live up to expectation and but said he personally observed a lot of the youth of the country simply decided to not vote and according to him National Security has the answers to that mystery.

Eugene Boakye Antwi

On his part, the outspoken MP for Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi when called on phone to share his thoughts said it was clear as way back as the year 2022 that all was not well with the economy and finances of the country yet the President  was reluctant to change Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Eugene Explained further: “People who shut their eyes to reality simply invite their own destruction  is a quote by James Baldwin

“It was in October 2022 that  some of us in Parliament attempted to meet the President but that was denied us and we made it clear that the way Ken Ofori Atta, the Finance Minister was handling our finances as a country was wrong and would not help the government.

“We knew what we were talking about because when the President was on his Regional tour, when he got to my own constituency, the people did not accept him. When he got to the eastern Region again he was rejected.  These were worrying signals so we the 90 Members of Parliament who wanted to meet him and we were not given the chance, we stated our protest and we all know what followed after that

“I am true and true NPP but when I see things that do not help the party, I have to say it and when we saw the direction Ken Ofori Atta was going, it was clear it would not help us and that is what has caused us today. I have no personal problems with Ken Ofori-Atta. He is a senior brother”,  the Subin MP added

He also raised issued about the style the party elected its candidates:

“The style we elected our parliamentary candidates and our presidential candidate was problematic. For the last 32 years, it was only under the era of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyeapong that we had it right. We had 159 MPs and it had never happened. Among all the executives, they alone had it right.

“John Boadu came and it had its own challenges. When you get your parliamentary and presidential candidates wrong, you get the outcome wrong as well.

“The party suffers paralysis because of the over bearing nature of the Executive Presidency we practice. Everything shifts to the flag-bearer after primaries. If the party had stood its ground to say we should guard and protect some of our best experienced MPs we would have been better off to even prosecute the campaign.  But we were rather interested in uprooting people forgetting that when we uproot people, we uproot their followers as well.

Even our parliamentary committees we were changing our members anyhow and replacing them because someone was showing his powers.

“We need to rebuild the party right from the base. We need the National Executive to call an emergency meeting and give us a time table for polling station, electoral areas and constituency elections then we elect our flag-bearer and move on in one direction.

“If we do not move on in the needed direction, we would continue to complain and accuse each other.  The NDC always picks a former MP or a former Minister as its National Chairman. We should learn from that and pick people who have the experience and know how. With the right personnel, the NPP can win 2028.”

Kwabena Addo Amankwah

On his part, the former PC aspirant for Manhyia South went hard on NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, mostly known as Nana B.

“We need love forgiveness among ourselves. People like Nana B left their jobs as National Organiser and were following the candidate around leaving no one to organize the party. .  We need to sack all the executives and elect new ones.

“I am so proud of Ghanaians. I love the NPP but it gets to a time we should put Ghana  first.  If you go back to the foundations of this party, our founders out the country first. But today we have people who have their self interest ahead of the country.

“I am NPP but I can’t hide the truth. It is God teaching us something and we should be bold to speak the truth when things are not going well in our party”,  Kwabena Addo noted.
