Blows at Kwadaso as Prez MCE Nominee is Rejected
There was near fisticuff at Kwadaso after the president’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive of the newly created assembly was rejected on Tuesday.
Richmond Agyenim Boateng, who was nominated by the President to head the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, failed woefully to get the nod as he polled only five out of eleven votes cast.
Dyed-in-the-wool supporters of Agyenim Boateng, who could not contain their shock, allegedly threatened to attack the assemblymen that voted against their idol.
Checks by THE PUBLISHER indicate that some people had to intervene to prevent the election venue from being turned into a boxing arena.
Meanwhile, the violent posture of the supporters of the president’s nominee seems not to be helping his course as the agitated-looking assemblymen had vowed to vote against Agyenim Boateng anytime he is re-nominated for the position.
Even though Agyenim Boateng failed to secure 50 percent of the votes, and the president has the right to re-nominate him, reports say one Richard Karikari, who is the people’s favourite, may catch the eye of the president.
