BlueCrest College, one of the leading private tertiary institutions in Ghana has held its matriculation ceremony for fresh students enrolled to pursue various certificate, diploma, degree and masters programmes.
The students, made up of local and international students with majority coming from West African countries such Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Mali, Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso, were led by the registrar of the College, Mrs. Edina Asante, to take the matriculation oath.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Rector of the College, Dr. Anand Agrawal noted that tertiary institutions are facing a lot of challenges getting students to fill the classroom because of multiplicity of issues. He said in the face of these challenges, the onus now is on private institutions to devise innovative ways to get students enrolled unto various academic progemmes.
“Though the competition to attract students to tertiary institutions is keen, we at BlueCrest College have very innovative programmes that respond to the needs of industry and our students are taken through practical-based and experiential learning that equip them to equally respond to challenges that comes with a job”, he intimated.
‘’We are sure this college is building the right caliber of professionals not only for today’s market but for the future as well. This college is here to be the game changer and we are confident with the team of dedicated staff and lecturers, the college will continue to grow in leaps and bounds in all areas of academic work’’, he added.
The Registrar of the College, Mrs. Edna Asante on her part, admonished students to take advantage of the digital approach of learning the school has initiated to enhance their knowledge and build their capacity as future leaders. She however bemoaned the increasing spate of indiscipline on various campuses across the country and charged the students to concentrate on their academic work.
“To achieve excellence in life, one needs to be discipline, committed and hardworking and it is these values we admonish all of you to inculcate in your studies and any other academic exercise you will undertake in this College, she noted.
The college which was established some 10 years ago, has a total student population of 2000 reading various programmes in Information and Communication Technology, Business Administration, Mass Communication and Journalism and Fashion and Design all on regular and weekend schedules.
