Boy, 18, Shot in Public Over GH¢7,000
AN 18-YEAR-OLD boy is battling for his life after he was, reportedly, shot in the rib by some suspected robbers, who took away his GH¢7,000.
The victim, identified as Silas Boakye, is currently on admission at the Suntreso Government Hospital, where he is getting medical attention.
The disturbing incident, which happened at Edwenase in Kumasi on Friday, once again brings to the fore the general perception of insecurity in the country in recent times.
Sources said, Boakye, a mobile money agent, was at his joint doing business around 1pm on Friday when the goons stormed the place.
The suspected robbers then ordered the teenager to surrender his money and every valuable item on him; but before he could even utter a word, one of the attackers shot him in the rib area in the full glare of unbelieving viewers. The attackers then fled with their booty.
Some ‘Good Samaritans’ later rushed the victim, who was then bleeding profusely, to the Suntreso Government Hospital.
Reports say he is responding to treatment, and that the case had been reported to the police.
