Residents of Ahwiaa Overseas were thrown into a state of united grief and wailing after a five year-old boy was killed by fire on Saturday night.
This unpleasant news happened after an inferno swept through a house in the community, which led to the young boy being gutted by the blaze.
Only identified as Bernard, the young boy was not lucky enough as he was said to have been trapped in the house, leading to his untimely death.
The badly-burnt body of the boy has since been deposited in a morgue for autopsy as the cause of the blaze is being investigated by fire experts.
Eye witnesses account indicated that the young boy was in the house with his 12 year-old sister when fire broke out in the nine-bedroom house.
The 12 year-old girl managed to save her life as she quickly fled from harm’s way but the 5 year-old boy, sadly, could not run on time to save his life.
According to reports, the young boy and items such as televisions sets, refrigerators, furniture, wardrobes and others in the house were gutted.
It was gathered that the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called very late so they (firemen) could do very little to douse the inferno.
