It was all joy and jubilation when the Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE) Boye Laryea handed a 44-unit market shed to Kisseman traders in Accra.
The Sheds, fitted with Television sets, radio, electricity and security lights among other things is part of the development agenda of the Assembly in the Municipality.
Previously, the traders were left at the mercy of the weather as they displayed their wares, a situation which compelled the Assembly to consider the construction of the much needed facility.
Commissioning the first of the two-phase Kisseman Community Market complex worth three hundred and sixty four thousand (GH¢364,000) Mr. Laryea said the facility is in line with the government’s development vision for the Municipality.
He said as the NPP government’s appointee in the Municipality, the market shed has been one of his topmost priority projects.
Mr. Laryea stated that “Thankfully today the market shed is ready for operation, Today is my birthday and I want to give the women their market sheds today. I thank all of you especially the Chiefs and the former Assemblyman…”
While expressing his exceptional gratitude to Fuseni Issah, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, the ONMA MCE thanked the market women for their patience saying “there was no resistance whatsoever when we asked them to move for the project to start.”
Mr. Laryea further disclosed: “The lockable shops will be ready by December, it’s a promise and it shall happen. Let me announce again that there are more things to come in Kisseman, Christian village and its environs.
He said policemen will be on site to protect the market indicating that anyone who plans to manhandle will be dealt with according to law.
Mr Laryea noted that a maintenance unit from the Assembly will be deployed to the facility to prolong its life span.
Mr. Fuseni said the facility is an indication of the benefits electorates derive from voting for a good government like that of Nana Akufo-Addo.
He stated that the electorates were reaping the benefits of the 2016 polls hence the completion of the market sheds for the traders.
The Okaikwei North MP said the market has positive impact for the Kisseman community.
He was optimistic that the phase two will soon be opened to the traders to occupy.
Mr. Fuseni was grateful to all those who in diverse ways contributed to the success of the project.
He tasked the traders to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo in the December polls in order to enjoy more development-centered projects.
The second phase of the project to be constructed by Sky Lynx Haven Investments Limited is also set to give the traders the opportunity to own lockable stalls.
