Bread sellers mob Bagbin at Sogakope
Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, was at the centre of attraction at Sogakope, when he touched base there to interact with National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates.
Information about the presence of the NDC flagbearer hopeful in the Volta regional town saw many street hawkers abandoning their wares and run to his direction just to catch a glimpse of him.
Among the lot were bread sellers who cat-called the Nadowli-Kaleo MP as the incoming President and redeemer of the country, while others gave free bread as their widow’s mite towards his campaign to become President.
It said an impressed Bagbin then stopped briefly to interact with the people, many of whom seized the opportunity to take selfies with the respected longstanding MP for Nadowli Kaleo.
Overwhelmed with the love shown him, the statement said Mr Bagbin promised to do his best if he becomes President, to improve the lot of Ghanaians so that no Ghanaian child would have to hawk on the streets to make a living.
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament also met NDC delegates at Sogakope to sell his message of hope to them as part of the campaign trail.
He reiterated that he would run things differently from what pertained in the past if he became leader of the NDC.
Mr Bagbin had long made it abundantly clear, that the NDC was unfair to its own members and that in as much as the party’s members sacrificed for it, the party too ought to reciprocate by rewarding such loyalty.
Like everywhere else that he had gone on his campaign tour of the Volta region, his message evoked euphoria among the delegates in Sogakope who made it clear that they were not in the mood to repeat mistakes of the past that led to the defeat of NDC in 2016.
Prior to that meeting, the Flagbearer hopeful stormed Anloga, where he paid a courtesy call on Togbui Sri lll, the King of Anlo.
Mr Bagbin also travelled up to Ho where he paid a courtesy call on the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, and President of the Asogli Traditional Area, Togbe Afede XIV. The King of the Asogli State was represented by Togbe Howusu XII, Togbe Kasa III, Togbe Anikpi III and Togbe Afela II.
