The former President of the Ghana Football Association has been banned for life by the world football governing body(FIFA) from all football activities.
According to FIFA, Nyantakyi is banned from taking part in all football-related activities and the ban takes effect immediately.
The life ban follows extensive investigations by FIFA’s Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee into the conduct of Mr Nyantakyi who was captured in an explosive expose by Ghanaian investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Mr. Nyantakyi was captured taking bribes in a video exposé dubbed #Number12 which was compiled by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
He was captured on videos negotiating a deal with businessmen and accepting a bribe of $65,000 to help establish an oil business in his native country. He has also been fined $500,000 by FIFA.
In a statement from FIFA sighted by thepublisheronline reads: “The adjudicatory chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee has banned Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for life from all football related activities (administration, sports or any other) at national and international level,”.
” The adjudicatory found Mr. Nyantakyi guilty of having violating article 19. (conflict of interest) article 21. (Bribery and Corruption)”
Following Nyantakyi’s resignation from the GFA, the Ghanaian Government sought to disband the troubled federation but were issued with a warning from FIFA, who do not tolerate political interference in its member organisations.
It was then agreed that a “Normalisation Committee” would be set-up to replace the Executive Committee of the GFA and prevent the country being banned.
