Buffer Stock Company Orders Withdrawal of ‘Unfit’ Flour from Schools

The National Buffer Stock Company has ordered the withdrawal of some unwholesome flour supplied to Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region.

It comes in the wake of complaints from students about a sour taste of meals prepared with the said flour.

There are fears the product could cause food poisoning on campuses.

Speaking to Starr News, the Senior Operations Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock company Arnold Kojo Ackah said the flour sent to the schools were not safe for household consumption.

“From our investigations, it revealed that the flour is not fit for purpose, that is for the baking of bread for the students. It happened only in some schools so we called the supplier to recall the product from the schools. They agreed that the floor was not locally produced and not fit to be used to prepare bread for the kids,” he said.
