A LONG Truck, fully loaded with goods, has veered from the road and landed dangerously in a deep valley on the Offinso-Akomadan Highway.
It is not known whether the driver, who was coming from the Techiman direction to Offinso was dozing off due to tiredness or the car developed a fault.
According to a police report, which THE NEW PUBLISHER has laid its hands on, the truck was moving smoothly in its lane, when it veered off.
The driver of the vehicle, who has been identified by police investigators as Coulibaly Amadou, a Burkina Faso national, died at the accident spot.
However, the police said the driver’s mate, Amadou Ouatalla, survived the Friday evening vehicular accident despite sustaining serious injuries.
According to the police, all other stakeholders worked collectively before the truck was eventually removed from the deep valley located at the roadside.
Unfortunately, the police said, when the truck was retrieved from the valley the driver had already given up the ghost due to severe injuries.
The police investigators said it was through the driver’s mate, who is currently in hospital and receiving treatment, that the driver’s identity was known.
“Police visited the mate and found him stable. He mentioned his name as Amadou Ouatalla and mentioned the deceased driver’s name as Coulibaly Amadou, both Bourkinabes”.
The police report indicated that investigations were still ongoing to help identify what triggered the moving truck to fall heavily into the valley and claimed the driver’s life.
