Burnt Electrical Poles Trigger Power Outages in Volta Region
Mr Joseph Forson, General Manager, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Volta Region, has attributed recent power cuts in the region to rampart bushfires which has burnt some wooden electrical poles.
He said the fires, caused by activities of hunters and ranchers, not only cost ECG huge sums of money, but also posed dangers to surrounding communities.
Mr Forson, who was speaking at the Company’s Customer Open Day in Ho, said although the frequency had been reducing over the years, uninterrupted power supply must be guaranteed, and appealed to the public to help protect the poles.
He asked relevant authorities and community members to clear bushes around the poles, and also exercise vigilance towards preventing wild fires.
Mr Forson assured customers that management of the Company would continue to maintain an open-door policy to improve service delivery, and asked them to direct their grievances to the appropriate offices.
