An America-based Ghanaian business man and philanthropist, Nurein Migyimah Shaibu, has taken a swipe at the maverick Member of Parliament for the Assin-Central Constituency, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, over the low level of development in his constituency.
Nurein Migyimah Shaibu, who hails from Assin-Fosu in the Central Region, lamented over what he described as high rate of unemployment and the virtual absence of developmental projects and social amenities in the constituency. The therefore urged the MP to do more for the people and talk less in the media.
Speaking to THE PUBLISHER, he explained that, many Ghanaians think all is well with the good people of Assin-Central simply because their Member of Parliament is often loud in the media, usually touting his wealth. He however lamented that on the contrary, the people live in abject poverty.
According to him, he expected Kennedy Agyapong to have taken advantage of the government’s One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy to site a factory in the area, but finds it strange that nothing of that nature has been done for the teeming youth to benefit from.
Shaibu, who claims he is passionate about the welfare of the people of Assin-Central, has therefore decided to contest as Member of Parliament for the area to ‘liberate’ the constituents from hardship and speed up development in the constituency.
The Assin Central Constituency is often represented in Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Even though it is not yet known which political party Nurein Migyimah Shaibu belongs to, indications are that Kennedy Agyapong could be given a run for his money, if he intends to run again in the 2020 elections.
