‘By The FireSide’ Returns December, 7
One programme which is set to return in the spirit of ‘the year of return’ is the children’s favourite ‘By the Fire Side’ which was previously aired on Ghana Television.
Given a new lease of life, e-Ananse libraries is spearheading the initiative and will on that day honour the veteran actress, Grace Omaboe popularly known as ‘Maame Dokono’.
For years, there has been intense crave for the return of this outstanding children’s television programme which made a lot of waves in the 90s.
This undeniably caused several attempts by different institutions to re-invent the programme in different forms. The sad truth however was that all these efforts could not meet its targeted objective.
But in the spirit of ‘the year of return’ e-Ananse Libraries has been successful in uniting some of the old cast with Maame Dokono to perform on stage during the launch of the ‘by the fire side’ come December 7, 2019.
There will also be a conversation moment with Maame Dokono after which she will be honoured for her great contribution to the creative arts industry and the country as a whole.
The day will as well feature traditional spoken word, cultural dance and folk music performances.
‘By The Fireside @ Osu’, a live monthly storytelling session organized by e-Ananse Libraries is an evening of fun and entertainment, aimed at reviving the beautiful art of Ghanaian storytelling.
The event to be held at the e-Ananse Library situated in Osu, 68th Ringway, Accra.
Entry is free for the maiden edition and it starts at 5:30pm.
