Former Black Stars player and now head Coach of Obuasi-based Ashanti Gold, Charles Kwabena Akonnor, has commended former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah for pursuing a career in coaching.
Appiah, who led the stars to successive World Cups in 2006 and 2010, is currently with West Ham in London as part of his training to become a coach in the near-future.
The 37-year-old is a brand ambassador for Betway Ghana and that landed him an invitation to spend a week at West Ham to help him learn about coaching at the highest level.
Coach C.K. Akonnor, in an interview with Class Sports, threw his weight behind the former Juventus attacker and emphasised that the move is a good one.
“It is good and it’s a positive thing. Appiah is somebody who has done so well for our country and the fact that he is taking that initiative, I think is a positive and laudable venture”, C.K. Akonnor said.
