The Cape Coast Youth Development Association (CCYDA) on Monday presented quantities of exercise books and other reading materials to some selected schools in the Metropolis.
The beneficiary schools included; Ekon M/A Junior High School (JHS), Cape Coast Presbyterian JHS, Apostolic JHS, Mensah Sabah JHS, Amanful Catholic Boys JHS, Kwagyir Aggrey and Bakatsir Methodist JHS.
Presenting the over 1,400 books at the schools, Mr Francis Baidoo, Chairman of CCYDA said the donation fell in line with its vision of ensuring good quality education in the metropolis.
He said the gesture was also to help inculcate in the pupils the habit of learning to enable them to benefit fully from the government’s free education policy and gave the assurance that the group would continue to implement measures that would help address challenges faced by schools within the metropolis.
Mr Baidoo encouraged the students to study hard and eschew all forms of negative attitudes that could derail their future ambitions.
At Amanful Catholic Boys JHS, Mr Jesus Julius Ellis, Head teacher of the School who received the items thanked the Association for the gesture.
He assured the association that the items would be fairly distributed and appealed to the students to learn hard to become responsible citizens in future.
Master Samuel Acquah, a JHS pupil on behalf of his colleagues thanked the association for their kind gesture and promised to put the books to good use.
