THE ASOKORE Mampong District Police in the Ashanti Region are hunting for three unidentified male car snatchers, who are currently on the run with a stolen car.
The trio infamously (names unknown) collaborated to snatch a Toyota Vitz commercial car, with registration number AC 1280-22, which is green and yellow in colour from its driver.
One of the hoodlums, reportedly, hired the vehicle from Suame to Kentinkrono, a community in Kumasi, but on the way, his two other male accomplices joined him to snatch the car.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Kofi Asewiah, who is about 51 years old, was attacked in the face by the robbers before the car was snatched from him on October 9, 2023.
“On 09/10/2023 at 0115 hours, Kofi Asewiah, aged 51, with blood emitting from his nostrils called at Asokore Mampong Police Station”, a police document seen by the paper, disclosed.
It added “He reported that, on 09/10/2023 about 0030 hours, while he was in charge a Toyota Vitz with registration No. AC 1280 – 22, Green/Yellow in colour working, a male adult aged about 28, hired his service from Suame to Kentinkrono.
“On reaching a spot near Asokore Mampong Chief’s Palace heading to Nsenie, the said passenger ordered him to stop. As soon as he stopped the vehicle, two other unarmed male adults emerged from the nearby bush, beat him and made away with the vehicle and some unspecified amount of money”.
The victim, who is the complainant in the case, was issued with medical report form to seek treatment and call back for further action, the police report said, adding that hunt for the car snatchers was underway.
