‘Cash For Seat’ Committee ‘Clears’ Alan
The parliamentary Committee probing the Cash for Seat saga has, according to Starr News sources, exonerated Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen of any wrong doing in the controversial transactions, in their yet to be submitted report.
The committee, however, found as improper the use of public accounts to receive private monies by the trade ministry, as occurred during the expatriate business awards.
The committee requested for a 24-hour extension on Wednesday to enable it complete its work and submit the report. It followed a one week extension of the deadline given to them to present its report after probing allegations that the Trade Ministry took money from expatriate business owners to have access to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye set up the bi-partisan committee to probe claims that the Trade Ministry extorted as much as $100,000 from expatriates to allow them to sit close to the President at the recently held Ghana Expatriates Business Awards.
