The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), in collaboration with STARGhana and media partners, would this morning convene a multi-stakeholder dialogue on the Free SHS and the Double Track System policies.
The announcement by government of the new Double Track System sparked intense debates and reignited public discussions about the free SHS policy and its implementation.
It has also raised issues about the nature of consultations undertaken by government before its adoption of such policies.
A statement issued in Accra yesterday by the CDD said the programme scheduled to be held at the Kofi Annan ICT Center would see Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Deputy Minister of Education joining a three-member panel discussion, moderated by renowned lawyer, Mr. Ace Annan Ankomah.
The dialogue also seeks to promote stakeholder engagement and understanding of the Free SHS and the Double Track System policies and to foster policy coherence and sustainability in Ghana’s educational sector.
It is also aimed at inviting relevant recommendations to mitigate potential challenges that may be associated with implementation of the policies.
According to the statement, workshop participants in the dialogue will include key stakeholders within the education sector, such as representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, teacher associations, civil society, independent experts, educationists, and parents/guardians.
