Chairman Eyes Victory for Nana Addo
President Nana Akufo-Addo’s aspiration of winning a second term in political office this year has received a massive boost as the party has ignited campaign and votes-wooing activities at the constituency and polling station levels.
An influential member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has predicted a landslide victory for the president and called on every member of the party to lace boots as a matter of urgency and start working towards an electoral victory
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the NPP Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, has insisted that nothing could prevent another victory for the NPP this year unless the party itself decides to get complacent and hand over power to another political party.
According to him, the NPP administration had done more than enough within three years in political office so they (NPP) merit another political term.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah therefore charged the NPP members in the constituency to campaign harder than ever to ensure the expected victory.
According to him, if the NPP members eschewed complacency and campaigned hard, the 2020 polls would be a done deal for the NPP.
He was speaking during this year’s annual thanksgiving service of NPP members in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency this week.
Attended by the MP for the area, Owuraku Aidoo, the NPP members in the constituency, used the event to thank God for His numerous blessings.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said the NPP depended solely on God to win the 2016 polls, so it is appropriate for the NPP members to show appreciation to God.
He announced that the NPP would depend on God’s might and mercies again to win another electoral victory in December, saying “We serve a living God”.
According to him, the NPP government has laid concrete foundation for a smooth developmental takeoff, urging the electorates to renew the mandate of the NPP.
The NPP members, led by Rev Augustine Mensah, the Minister in Charge of Kodie Methodist, prayed for the president and members of his government.
Akufo-Addo Picks Forms
Meanwhile the President, Nana Akufo-Addo has picked nomination forms to contest the party’s flag-bearer position at a primaries slated for April 25.
Victor Newman, Director of Research at the Presidency, picked the forms on behalf of Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday.
General Secretary of the party, John Boadu said the president is the only one who has so far declared his intentions to contest the flag-bearer position of the NPP.
“He has satisfied the first rule by paying the GHC20,000 banker’s draft in favour of the party and we expect that before 20th of February, he will be able to finish filling the forms and attach the nomination fee of GHC200,000 for the process to begin,” Boadu said in an interview.
