THE CHIEF of Piase, near Kumasi, Nana Osei Afriyie Gyamerah, had to request an urgent medical attention after he was allegedly assaulted by a rival chief and his gang during a meeting at Kuntenase recently.
Reports say in the course of the meeting, a misunderstanding ensued and the two feuding chiefs and their factions started to trade insults.
Nana Premo Kwagyan II, Krontihene of Kuntenase, had tried in vain to peacefully settle a dispute between Nana Gyamerah and the other chief.
A reliable police source hinted the paper that the other faction, led by one Kwaku Asiedu, physically attacked and beat up Nana Gyamerah, halting proceedings at the meeting.
According to the source, Asiedu and his group forcibly removed the sandals and Kente cloth of Nana Gyamerah and also slaughtered a sheep to symbolize his destoolment.
The police were called in to the scene to rescue Nana Gyamerah. They later sent the victim to the hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made as at the time of filing the story.
