A RESPECTED traditional leader in the Eastern Region of Ghana has done the unthinkable by taking his life in a bizarre manner, the paper is reliably informed.
The tragic incident reportedly happened at Prokrom-Nsaba near Nsawam in the Akuapim South District, where the Odikro (caretaker chief) of the hitherto quiet town, Nana Ayensu Agyei, reportedly shot himself with a long gun.
Reports received by the paper suggest that the 67-year-old traditional leader on Monday committed suicide when he was alone in his bathroom.
Residents of the town told the media they heard a gunshot from the direction of the Odikro’s palace, and rushed to the scene; only to see the chief lying in a pool of blood.
Speaking on Otec FM in Kumasi, Kwaku Amponsah, an eye witness, said the chief did not leave behind any note or message before taking his life.
According to Amponsah, some residents are conjecturing that the late chief must have been suffering from an unknown ailment.
