Chief Of Staff Buries Mother
THE FLAGSTAFF House, the seat of government, was temporarily moved to Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, over the weekend.
The crème-de-la-crème in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, led by President Akufo-Addo and his wife, Becky, virtually invaded the garden city ostensibly to mourn MaameAmaKwartemaa aka ‘Mary Osei’, who passed away recently.
The deceased, 98, was the mother of Madam AkosuaFremaOsei-Opare, the Chief of Staff at the presidency.
A high-powered government delegation to the funeral also included the vice President Dr. MahamaduBawumia and his wife Samira, Education Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, Kumasi Mayor, OseiAssibeyAntwi and Mr. Alan Kyeremanten, Trade Minister.
Former Ghana President, Jerry John Rawlings was also in Kumasi to commiserate with the Chief of Staff and the rest of the bereaved family.
Other dignitaries present comprise virtually all regional ministers in the country, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) national, regional and constituency executives.
Huge Traffic
The influx of mourners from all over the country to Kumasi on Saturday led to massive vehicular traffic, such that a journey, which ordinarily would have taken about 20 minutes to cover,took motorists two hours.
