After a long break, another season of the award-winning health and wellness show, Vodafone Healthline, has aired.
Season 10 kicked off with a recap of the 10-year journey and impact of the programme, which was introduced to empower Ghanaians to take control of their health and lead healthier lives.
In the new season of the show, medical practitioners debunked the claim that chocolate could enhance sexual performance.
Cardiologist Ama Folson acknowledged that although research had shown that chocolate could release some chemicals that “are good for the general wellbeing” of individuals, science had not proved that it could enhance sexual performance.
“Many people have called chocolate an aphrodisiac. I think there is a lot of history. Casanova was making a lot of noise about the aphrodisiac effects, but it contains some chemicals which are good for our general wellbeing and help us respond well when the need arises,” she said.
Medical practitioner, Kweku Yalley also supported the claim, saying “to say that if you eat chocolate you will perform well, I am not sure.”
The second session of the Healthline program also highlighted how four-year-old Grace Ameyaw, who was diagnosed with cancer, received help from Vodafone to undergo surgery ten years ago. Her father, Mr. Ameyaw, was grateful that Vodafone extended their support.
Another beneficiary, Michael Aklotso, a footballer, disclosed how Vodafone assisted him after he sustained a leg injury. “They supported me with my transportation, food, and actually, when they started, I did not believe it. My healing started quickly. ”
Trauma surgeon James Aggrey Orleans also discussed effective ways of handling road accident victims. He said health practitioners, especially surgeons, have a role to play in handling road accident victims.
“Accidents will happen, and when they do, ordinary citizens should know what to do. It is a chain reaction, and surgeons have to ensure we are not the weakest link in that chain.”
The show ended with Dr. Yalley delving into how some surgeons have over the years conducted surgery on themselves.
