The one time Black Stars captain and Wolfsburg football club, Coach C.K Akonor has threatened to neglect his current role as the head coach of the senior national soccer team over what he describes as interference from some officials of the Ghana Football Association among others, The New Publisher has gathered.
This comes after he named his 23-man squad for the Black Stars crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 penultimate qualifier against the Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Apparently, reports are that, his main squad was changed by some heads of the GFA with new list of players favorable to the said officials rather listed to the general public.
In the squad are Stephen Ambrosius of Hamburger SV in Germany, Kamal Sowah of OH Leuven in Belgium, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt of Willem II in Holland, Kwame Afriyie Opoku of Colchester United, Osman Bukari of Gent, Emmanuel Gyasi of Spezia FC in Italy and many more.
The paper understands C.K Akonor did not named about eight of the players in the final squad which made him furious after seeing the inclusion of Kwame Opoku, among others.
The list however sees the surprise omission of captain, Andre Ayew, his brother Jordan and Arsenal star Thomas Partey.
Ghana will take on South Africa on March 25 in Johannesburg before engaging Sao Tome and Principe on March 29, 2021 at the Accra Sports stadium.
The Black Stars sit at the top of Group C with 9 points and are in search of one of the tickets to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon… MORE SOON
