President of Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Kwabena Yeboah has picked Charles Kwablah Akonor as the best replacement for current black stars coach Kwesi Appiah.
According to the veteran sports writer, the head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko would do a good job if the senior national team coaching job is handed over to team after the tenure of Kwesi Appiah.
The former caption of the national team, C.K Akonor has been applauded by fans and majority of soccer fans for his impressive soccer play in the CAF Confederations Cup.
His latest victory for Kotoko was a 3-0 win at home over Nkana FC in the ongoing CAF Confederations Cup over the weekend.
However, Speaking in an interview with Class FM Sports, Mr Yeboah expressed confidence that Akonnor is best placed to take over from Appiah.
“He’s good enough to handle the national team. I don’t know what C.K requires again to be able to handle the national team. He’s the reason I think we don’t need any expatriate coach to handle the national team. I think Kwesi Appiah is good enough. If at a point Kwesi feels that he needs to exit, we still have C.K Akonnor to take over. So far, I think that he has been brilliant,” Mr Yeboah said.
A`sante Kotoko are preparing ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup match-day five with Al Hilal of Sudan at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
