In 24 hours after the announcement of newly Electoral Commission Chairman, Mrs. JEAN MENSA who was the director of the Institute of Economic Affairs, there has been high public outrage especially from the National Democratic Congress .
She is to replace Charlotte Osei who was removed with her two deputies – Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah – by the President following recommendations by a committee set up by the Chief Justice to probe a petition against them.
KOKU Anyidohu , NDC members of parliament including general secretary of the party has all descended on the newly elected chairman to head the Electoral Commission.
On that note,Pollster Ben Ephson has urged the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to forward their concerns they have over the EC Chair-nominee Jean Mensa to the Council of State.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday, Mr. Ephson said the NDC must concentrate on the critical ways to win an election and approach their reservations over the nominations to the appropriate body.
“If the NDC has got evidence of statements made by Jean against their party, they can forward it to the Council of State”.
The managing editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper also advised the IEA boss to eschew bitterness if she wants to succeed at the job.
“This is what I will tell Jean if I should meet her; ‘Take out any bitterness, be fair and you’ll succeed’. Fortunately or unfortunately, there is an immediate past experience that should be able to guide Jean Mensa in discharging her duties.
Former President of the country, H.E John Mahama earlier today called the appointment as regrettable.
