The Youth Employment Agency recently announced the recruitment of 282 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), supposedly including former toll collectors, however, the Ghana Toll Workers Association swiftly countered these claims.
Secretary Edward Duncan clarified in an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Friday, that while the government is indeed in the process of hiring some former toll workers, the reported 99 individuals have not yet been employed.
Instead, they have undergone interviews on February 22 and 23. Duncan emphasized that there has been no issuance of employment letters, dispelling the notion that these individuals are already engaged.
He pointed out that the interview process commenced on Thursday and continued into Friday, contradicting the Agency’s assertion of immediate employment.
Duncan’s statements shed light on the ongoing nature of the recruitment, highlighting that the fate of these former toll workers remains uncertain pending the final decision on their employment.
This clarification underscores the nuanced reality of the situation, revealing a process still unfolding rather than a concluded hiring as initially suggested.
