Ghanaian social media influencer and #FixTheCountry convener, Joshua Boye-Doe popularly known as KalyJay, has seen his Twitter account been suspended.
Information available indicates that Kalyjay’s account was suspended after some group of government officials allegedly reported his account for several offences.
This is not the first time KalyJay’s account has been suspended since the commencement of the #FixTheCountry campaign.
In the heat of the campaign time, he had his account suspended but managed to retrieve it back after some days.
What is #fixthecountry?
The #fixthecountry hashtag was started by KalyJay to push the concerns of citizens and demand accountability from the government.
Some celebrities and political activists later joined the campaign and the hashtag and its variants including #fixthecountrynow, #nameandshame, #fixitnow, #fixmotherghana was on top of the Twitter trends for over a week.
The tweets expressed displeasure over successive government’s failure to improve the living standards of Ghanaians. Among the concerns included dumsor, unemployment, galamsey, and poor healthcare systems which they cite as proof of successive governments’ mismanagement of the country.
The conveners intended to gather supporters for a demonstration at the Black Star Square in Accra on May 9, 2021 but had to alter their plans after the Ghana Police Service secured an injunction against it.
The conveners further went to the Supreme Court challenging the injunction but it was also met with similar disappointment.
Meanwhile, government officials including President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia among others have assured Ghanaians of their commitment to fix the country.
