Cop in Trouble Over Lover’s Death
A POLICEMAN, stationed at Konongo in the Ashanti region, has been apprehended to help in investigations into the death of his fiancée whose corpse was found hanging in his bedroom.
The beleaguered policeman, identified as Sgt. Bright Opoku Yeboah, has been hauled to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, headed by COP Ken Yeboah, where the cause and circumstances of death is being investigated.
Hanging
Vida Frema, 30, said to be a tutor at Kumasi Girls Senior High School (SHS) was, seen hanging in the room of Sgt. Yeboah on Monday.
Sgt. Yeboah lives in Konongo and Frema was said to have visited him there and passed the night. On Monday morning, the policeman was reported to have left Frema in the room at around 6am when he left home for work.
The security officer, reportedly, returned from work only to see Frema hanged on a police lanyard, which was tied to the windows in the room.
Eye witnesses said there were blood stains on some parts of Frema and a blood-stained knife was also seen in the room, near the hanging corpse.
The policeman, reportedly, informed his superiors about the case, and based on that, a team of policemen rushed to the crime scene to pick the teacher’s body to the mortuary.
IGP’s Intervention
Reports reaching THE PUBLISHER indicate that the depressing matter was reported to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu.
The police chieftain, reportedly, ordered that the matter be moved from the Konongo Division to the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters.
The IGP’s directive, police sources hinted, is geared towards ensuring fairness in the investigations of the dicey case so as to help unearth the whole truth.
Autopsy
In a related development, autopsy was expected to be conducted on the lifeless body of Frema on this week to ascertain the cause of her death.
