Cop Killings: Parliament Summons IGP
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Appeatu, and some high-ranking police personnel, have been hauled before parliament over the gunning down of a police officer at the Kwabenya police station on Sunday, 21 January, 2018.
A member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Ernest Norgbey, told the media on Tuesday, 23 January 2018 ahead of the meeting that the encounter will afford the legislators an opportunity to quiz the security personnel on the safety of the citizenry as far as fighting crime is concerned.
Meanwhile, the police in Accra have begun a manhunt for the seven suspects who were freed from police custody by a gang of six armed robbers who attacked the Kwabenya Police Station.
The suspects released include six Ghanaians and a Nigerian.
They are: Dickson Ofori, Chibuzor Akwabu, Edem Rockson, Prince Osei, Emmanuel Kotey, Kofi Darko and Attah Kwadwo.and killed one officer on Sunday.
Police inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi was shot and killed in the cell break.
