Thousands of hungry and needy women with their children in Accra were given free food, water, non-alcoholic drinks and free medical counseling on Monday April 5, 2021, courtesy the Counselor Lutterodt Foundation.
The beneficiaries, mostly ‘kayayei’ who reside in make-shift homes built with tents and clothes at market centers and bus terminals could not hide their joy and appreciation.
“We are on a Feed Mother And Child campaign, and the target is to start with 5000 beneficiaries. Every mother and child gets free food, free water, free non alcoholic drink and then we take them through some counseling and health education”, Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, mostly referred to known as ‘Counselor Lutterodt’, leader of the Foundation noted.
“We want ahead to educate them on sex education to help them in family planning so they avoid unplanned pregnancies. Some of them during the sex education session, were complaining that the condom bursts so we had to educate them on how to wear it properly; both the male and female condoms. Then we also tackled topics like diabetes, High Blood Pressure, asthma and personal hygiene. Hey asked questions on the lessons and this showed they were not only listening but were actually learning something”, he added.
Counselor Lutterodt said the succor would be replicated across the country and that the Foundation operates an open door policy ready to partner any individual or organization that wants to support in the feeding of hungry mothers and children.
“We are still doing our very best to meet the target and my contact numbers are available for every individual or company that wants to support us in whatever way be it cash or kind. I can be reached on 0277609644
“This is not the first time we are doing this as a Foundation. The most recent one was during the COVID lockdown where we provided similar charity services to some five hospitals and ordinary Ghanaians who were in need of basic things like nose masks and sanitizers”, he added
