An Accra High Court yesterday morning dismissed the election petition brought before it by Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, presidential aspirant for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) presidency.
Mr. Ahumah Bosco Ocansey, the Communications Director of the Union in an interview with The New Publisher said the court described Ras Caleb’s application as lacking merit.
According to him, the development would come as good news for the association, as they hope to elect new executives to spearhead the activities of the Union for the next four years.
Elections for new MUSIGA executive members were to have been held in July 2019 but Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi got an Accra High Court to place an injunction on the polls, citing anomalies.
He claimed there should have been a voters’ register for each region but the Electoral Commission presented only one album which also had some names missing.
He also raised concerns about the registration of people, some of which were not musicians, beyond the deadline.
