COVID-19 CASES are reported to be on the ascendancy in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah made the announcement and warned the public to be careful in observing the anti COVID protocols.
According to him, reported cases of the deadly disease was reducing significantly but it is rising again, suddenly in recent times.
The minister said COVID-19 cases reduced to only 9 in the Ashanti Region recently but the trend is changing again.
“COVID-19 cases in the Ashanti Region got to only 9 recently but the trend is changing and is a concern now.
“As I address you now, the reported cases of COVID -19 in the region has jumped to 44 and it is not encouraging”.
Osei Mensah, who was speaking at a public function at Bantama, urged the public to take COVID-19 seriously.
According to him, countries that were making giant strides in fighting COVID-19, suddenly suffered a major setback.
“We should not be complacent in the fight against COVID-19 because the disease is very tricky and complicated.
“Some of the countries thought they have defeated the disease but reported cases suddenly began to rise”.
He said some European countries that almost defeated COVID-19 were now on a lockdown due to the virus.
Osei Mensah therefore implored the citizenry to continue to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols in order to stay safe.
He urged the public to always wear face mask, wash hands with sanitizer and ensure social distancing at all times.
According to him, government was still making strong efforts to help defeat the deadly disease from the state.
The minister said the virus could only be defeated with a collective effort, so everybody should play a role.
