The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Ltd, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has donated a brand new ultra-modern Drager Fabius plus anesthetic machines used for COVID theatre to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC).
The move is to help the hospital and government fight the against COVID-19 pandemic that has claimed many lives globally.
This is part of a total of ten that will later be distributed to various health facilities across the country.
The UGMC currently has two anesthetic machines, with Monday’s donation making it three whiles Ghana’s caseload currently stands at 25,252 with 21,067 recoveries and 139 deaths.
The Presentation was done on behalf of the Mr. Mahama by his aide Mr. Rafik Mahama at the UGMC.
He said, “Mr. Mahama’s donation is intended to help the fight against COVID-19 in the country. With UGMC being one of the main referral centers for treating critically ill patients, it’s important the hospital is fully equipped in order to help reduce the increasing mortality rate among the critically ill patients. Also, similar donations will be done across other health facilities on a later date.
Director of Operations of UGMC, Mrs. Lucy Ayeh Brimpong expressed gratitude on receipt of the items saying the anesthesia machine will be extremely helpful to the Center when treating critically ill COVID-19 patients.
This is part of series of donations the business mogul has undertaken since the COVID-19 pandemic started in March.
In April he made donations to the National Chief Imam, Christ the King Church, Saint. James Catholic Church-Osu, various organizations and individuals among others to fed 10,000 households.
In May, he made a similar donation to the visually impaired pensioners.
