Cows Block Traffic

DRIVERS AND commuters that plied the Aboabo to the Airport Roundabout road in Kumasi Friday afternoon experienced some unpleasant moments.as a herd of cattle hijacked the busy road for some hours, resulting in massive vehicular traffic on the road.

The stray cattle, numbering over 20, had assembled to pass time right at the Aboabo Traffic Light area, which is one of the busy roads in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.

Surprisingly, there was no caretaker accompanying the dangerous looking animals as they freely roamed about on the road, causing panic and fear among other road users.

Drivers that plied the road that fateful afternoon were visibly looking frightened as they carefully drove around the animals, who had totally taken over the road.

The animals, who were having a field’s day, according to eyewitnesses reports, hijacked the road and caused traffic for hours before they eventually left on their own.

Some of the troubled drivers descended heavily on the city authorities, especially the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, for sleeping on their job.

According to them, it is unacceptable for stray cattle to hijack such a busy road especially when they posed danger to drivers and commuters without anybody taking action.

“The city authorities are waiting for the animals to cause accident and lead to injuries and possibly deaths before they would react”, Kofi Okyere, a driver, jabbed the Assembly.

Joyce Obeng, who was in charge of a Toyota Salon car, on her part said, those put in responsible positions in the country should sit up and act accordingly.
