Daddy Lumba Urge Ghanaians To Create Awareness For Our Tourism Industry
Legendary Highlife Singer, Daddy Lumba has expressed his profound gratitude to the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Catherine Afeku, for appointing him as Ghana’s tourism ambassador.
The highlife musician, who said he never expected to be recognised and appointed as a tourism ambassador by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, expressed his excitement and promised to contribute in making Ghana the tourism destination in West Africa.
“I am excited to be called upon to serve my country and I promise to do my best. I am also pleading with fellow Ghanaians to create the awareness to open more doors for our tourism industry,” he stated.
According to him, his appointment as a tourism ambassador shows that the Tourism Ministry and the government appreciate the role being played by Ghanaian musicians in bringing foreigners into the country.
“I will like to thank the Tourism Minister, Hon Catherine Afeku, for believing in my brand and choosing me from a sea of intelligent and creative musicians that Ghana has. I am happy to promote tourism in Ghana and also sell Ghana to the rest of the world. I will do my best in fulfilling this job,” he told BEATWAVES in an interview.
Daddy Lumba is also appreciative of the media for providing him with the needed platform for the growth of his musical career. He, however, called for the private sector’s involvement in the running of tourist sites in the country.
The highlife musician explained that the private sector’s involvement in running of tourist sites will cause the sector to get the needed attention and investment it requires.
He added that the private investors will also help in injecting the needed capital into the industry, leading to improvement at the various tourist sites, thereby, increasing revenue from the sector.
With over 32 years experience in the music industry, Daddy Lumba, who has over 30 albums and uncountable awards to his credit, thanked Ghanaians for their support and contribution towards the growth of his career.
Ever since Daddy Lumba joined the highlife music industry in 1980s, his songs and stage performance have enjoyed massive reviews across various media platforms in the country and beyond.
He has established himself as one of Ghana’s most popular highlife singers and has been consistent with the release of multiple hit albums since then.
