Dagbon Chaos: Several Properties destroyed

More than Hundreds of residents of the Nanton district of the Northern Region have been rendered homeless following a fight between some irate youth as the Yaa Naa enskinned a new chief of a community.

The Chaos also saw destruction of several properties leaving many community members homeless. According to the youth, they were disappointed and unhappy with the decision of Vo Na Bawa as the new Nanton Na.

Sources say the youth of the town preferred the Chief of Zosali for the new role. The protest also saw blocking of all roads leading to the town in protest of a decision.

The people have vowed to resist any attempt to impose the Ya-Na’s candidate, Vo Naa Muhammadu Baba Bawa, on them as the Nanton Naa.

According to youth, the Nanton chieftaincy is for Abudus and not Andanis, noting no Abudu has ever contested an Andani chieftaincy, hence they see no reason for the Ya Na’s choice.

The people are thus appealing to President Nana Akufo-Addo to “call the Ya-Na” to order in the matter to avoid a degeneration.
