Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh has suffered a serious injury after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament and is set to miss a significant amount of time.
The attacking midfielder suffered the injury during a training session earlier today as his side, SC Freiburg, prepared for an upcoming league game against VFB Stuttgart on Saturday, February 11 at 14:30 GMT.
The former St. Pauli player hurt the ligament in his knee while making a tackle during a training session; he ended up twisting his knee causing the damage.
Freiburg stated Kyereh will undergo surgery as soon as possible to repair the ruptured ligament and begin the long road to recovery. This is Kyereh’s debut campaign in the Bundesliga with Freiburg.
In 19 games played in all competitions, Kyereh has scored three goals and registered an assist and has already missed four games to injury this season.
He played a minor role in Ghana’s Black Stars 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar after committing his international football career to Ghana and starred in the 2021 AFCON.
