Danquah Institute Boss Denies Insulting Otumfuo
Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, Executive Director of policy think tank, Danquah Institute, has denied insulting and impugning the character of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as claimed by the Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA).
According to him, his accusers are “dangerous” people because they are attempting to sow seed of hostility between ethnic groups.
The Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA), led by its General Secretary, Kwabena Frimpong, recently accused Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, founder of Danquah Institute; Nana Asante Bediatuo, Executive Secretary to President Nana Akufo-Addo; Deputy MASLOC Director, Afia Akoto; Deputy Director of the National Service Secretariat, Gifty Oware; and Dr. Nyarko, among others, of insulting the Asante monarch.
Responding to the accusation, Dr. Nyarko told Moro Awudu on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, that: “I have never insulted and will never ever insult or denigrate the Asantehene, one of the greatest kings we have in the world. It has never happened and it will never happen. For me, I think we need to be careful in this country and think more about collective interest of the nation than personal and parochial interest.”
He added that: “Anybody who tries to sow seeds of discourse between people and tribes is somebody who is dangerous, and we need to be careful about them and this allegation by KuYA [against] my person and those they have mentioned are unfounded, baseless, contrived and intended to court public hatred and disaffection against us.”
Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Monday, met Otumfuo Osei Tutu II behind doors at the Manyia Palace, over the traditional leader’s recent complaint that Mr Otchere-Darko and Nana Asante Bediatuo were plotting to undermine.
