David Duncan Gets Nomination For AFRIMMA
Fast-rising Ghanaian video director, David Duncan, has grabbed a nomination at African Muzik Magazine Awards 2019 in the United States of America.
David, known in real life as David Gbedze, is an Editor and filmmaker who burst onto the scenes when he directed “Thundercock by Nxwrth ft RJZ & Spacely in 2018.
A household name within the Ghanaian music video sphere, David’s numerous works, including videos for Ghana’s biggest artists like R2bees, Joey B, King Promise, Kwesi Arthur, Le Meme Gang and Nigerian alternative act, BOJ, have afforded him a high-level of reverence within the industry.
He has accrued several award nominations, including the prestigious 3 Music Awards (2018), Vodafone Ghana Music Award (2019), Ghana Entertainment Awards USA (2019), and the Greater Accra Music Awards (2019).
He says he is motivated by the idea of being ‘different’, saying it pushes him to think beyond expectations. His refreshing visual experiments for the likes of Joey B and La Même Gang have set him apart as a director and a talent to keep our eyes on in the New Year.
Managed by Mr. Lemawu Emmanuel Buernortey, aka JBlack, David will compete with known names like Daps (Nigeria), Clarence Peters (Nigeria), Justin Campos (Nigeria), Dr. Nkeng Stephens (Cameroon), Gyo Gyimah and others.
African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is the sole award ceremony in the Diaspora that caters to all musical genres, including but not limited to, Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.
The award show will take place in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, 26th of October, 2019 and will honour some of the world’s top African celebrities, artistes, artiste managers, producers, video directors, DJs and cultural influences.
This year’s edition is the 6th, and promises to be the biggest edition of the largest African music awards show in Diaspora.
