Davido: “You Can’t Mention Afrobeats Without My Name”

Nigerian Afrobeats artist David Adedeji Adeleke OON, known professionally as Davido, asserts that he has undeniably influenced Afrobeats both in Africa and worldwide.

In an Instagram post, he emphasized that no conversation about the Afrobeat genre can exclude his name. His statement comes as he prepares to release his fifth studio album, 5IVE, scheduled for debut in March 2025.

Widely celebrated for his international success, Davido has played a pivotal role in propelling Afrobeats to global prominence.

His latest single, “Funds,” which earned a Grammy nomination this year, has already generated significant buzz online. Davido has also collaborated with numerous international artists, further showcasing the unique sound of Afrobeats to the world.
