DCE denies galamsey dealings

JOSEPH DAPAAH, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South East, has vehemently debunked reports linking him to illegal mining, also called ‘Galamsey’.

According to him, he is a trustworthy and patriotic citizen, who is determined to represent the President properly in his District, so he would never indulge in Galamsey.

“It is never true that I indulge in illegal mining activities in my district, it is all palpable false so I will urged all and sundry to disregard the wild rumors about me.

“I know my government is against illegal mining activities therefore I will never enable in acts that would undermine the efforts of my government”, he said on Akoma FM.

According to the Ahafo Ano South East DCE, contrary to the wild speculations so dent his hard-won image, he is rather working to eradicate illegal mining from his area.

“I have rather worked tirelessly to help prevent illegal mining, which poses great danger to the environment, from my district and this is the gospel truth”, he indicated.

Joseph Dapaah said just two weeks ago he organized a stakeholders meeting to stop illegal mining in his district, stressing that the people are aware of his great efforts.

He reiterated that he is doing his utmost best to prevent illegal mining from his district therefore those spreading wild rumours to tarnish his positive image should stop now

Meanwhile President Akufo-Addo has said he would not hesitate to let the laws deal any f hs appointees that would be found guilty of supporting galamsey and that he only needs evidence of such appointees.

“I am determined to enforce the laws on illegal mining no matter the subject, high or low. I will, however, not act on the basis of hearsay or mere allegations without more. I will not hesitate to act, though, where the evidence is hard before the Police, and I will do so irrespective of the standing of the person or persons involved. That is the true meaning of equality before the law,” President Akufo-Addo noted in his address at the Consultative Dialogue on Small-Scale Mining, organized by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on April 14.
