Samuel Osei, 40, the driver of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South District, William Asante Bediako, was shot dead by suspected robbers on Monday, around 7pm.
The driver, was shot dead in the presence of two soldiers and the Coordinating Director of the Assembly, when they were returning to Dadease from Datano, where they had attended a COVID-19 sensitisation exercise.
Whilst entering the Dadease township, the robbers, who were then on an unrestrained robbery exercise, started to shoot at their four-wheel drive vehicle, and Samuel Osei was hit by a bullet.
Samuel Osei could not utter a word as he gave up the ghost right behind the steering wheel. He lost control of the vehicle, which drove into a nearby tree at the roadside before it stopped.
Sadly, the shooting incident happened in front of two soldiers, who could not do anything to save the situation as they were caught in crossfire and virtually unprepared for such situation.
Other Deaths
Before ending the life of the driver of the DCE, the hoodlums had earlier on shot two other people in the community namely Kwaku Danso, 60 and Osofo, 25 years-old, dead.
The robbers, who were said to be heavily armed, also shot another person in Dadease, whose identity was not readily available to the paper. That victim is said to be in critical condition presently.
No Arrest
Reports making the rounds indicated that the matter was instantly reported to the police in the district but before they arrived at the crime scene, the robbers had vanished into thin air.

Meanwhile, The New Publisher is aware that the Ashanti Regional Police Command has dispatched crime scene experts to Dadease to probe the matter and arrest the suspects.
A police source, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the police have picked some vital information from the crime scene and so he was hopeful that the killer robbers would be arrested soon.
According to him, the police have in their possession the amunition that was fired by the robbers to kill the driver, adding that it has also been uncovered that an AK47 rifle was used by the robbers to kill the three people.
