A HEARSE conveying a corpse to a funeral ground has been attacked by highway robbers, who killed the driver and robbed another occupant of the vehicle.
The heartless robbers left the corpse in the hearse with no one to drive it to the funeral grounds because they had shot and killed the driver.
Eye witnesses said the unheard of incident happened Friday evening at Bomfa Junction and the hearse was on its way to Adumasa in the Ashanti Region.
It was driving at top speed and on reaching Bompa Junction, the robbers who had laid ambush signaled the driver to stop but he either could not break to a halt immediately or he simply refused the instruction.
Whatever his reason for not stopping immediately could be, the robbers did not take it kindly and therefore opened fire and started shooting into the hearse.
The driver, who was identified as Kofi Oduro, was killed in the attack.
The other vehicles on the road were also ordered by the robbers to stop and the occupants were robbed of their valuables and cash.
The other person, who was seated in the hearse with the killed Kofi Oduro, was also not spared by the robbers.
The attackers then bolted with their stolen valuables.
After the robbers had left the scene with their booty, the fear-striken victims, reportedly called the police to the scene to commence investigations with the hope of arresting the robbers.
