Death Threats Against Damoah to be Investigated
The Ghana Police Service has revealed that it has commenced investigations into an alleged death threat against the Head of Communication and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Energy, Nana Kofi Oppong Damoah.
East Legon Police Commander, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, revealed on Tuesday, 7 August 2018, that they received an official complaint from Mr Damoah the previous day that one Herbert Krapa is plotting to kill him for defending the Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko over the controversial Ameri renegotiation deal.
Mr Arthur explained that the suspect is out of town but has been contacted and expected back in a few days to assist with investigations.
“We have also tried to contact the suspect in this case who is not within the shores of this country presently and he has promised that when he returns, he will report to assist the police with investigations,” he explained to Joy FM.
According to him, Mr Damoah’s concern was that he received text messages from the suspect which contained threats on his life.
Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sacked Mr Agyarko over the controversial deal.
Mr Agyarko came under heavy criticism when he claimed that Ghana will gain $405 million from a revised power deal with Ameri Energy but instead, it was discovered that the country will rather lose up to $472 million.
The Senior Staff Association of the Volta River Authority (VRA) described him as “incompetent” and called on Nana Akufo-Addo to fire him.
