MEMBERS OF the Delta Force, a vigilante group identified with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), are planning to go into farming, instead of guarding ballot boxes, reports say.
Francis Asante, a top member of the group, who made the disclosure in Kumasi recently, said farming is more lucrative than being a political vigilante.
He said members of his group are determined to go into farming to feed the nation and also take good care of their families.
This move comes at a time that government has vowed to disband all vigilante groups in the country.
Francis Asante noted that his group are in full support of government’s decision to disband vigilante groups, and is ready to cooperate in that direction.
“Chairman Wontumi and Kennedy Agyapong have promised to help us secure lands for farming.
“We are hoping they can get us huge tract of lands so we can start farming to make a living”, he said on radio.
According to Asante, members of the Delta Force are law-abiding people, who would not indulge in any illegal activities.
He therefore flatly deflated rumours that members of the Delta Force often indulge in land guard activities.
