Deplorable Borla Road Construction Begins
The Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Tina Naa Ayele Mensah and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, have cut sod for construction to begin at the deplorable Borla road in Mallam Gbawe, a suburb of Accra.
The 1.5 kilometres road when completed would serve as a link between Mallam and Top Base without going through Gbawe.
At the event, Ms Mensah who is also the Deputy Health Minister said she was happy the construction of the deplorable road has finally seen it’s light and urged the contractors to work hard to enable completion of the project on time.
According to her, the state of the road had given her many criticisms and insult from the residents and does not want continuation.
For his part, Mr. Kumor the MCE, said there will be supervision of the work to ensure its success noting that the ceremony wasn’t going to be a flash in the pan but contractors will begin work immediately the ceremony was over.
The Chief of Gbawe, Nii Laryea Faamlite ll, in his speech also said the recent happenings, in respect to projects, in the Weija -Gbawe Municipality have convinced him of the capabilities of the MP and the MCE.
Nii Laryea Faamlitell, cited example in respect to the Top Base area roads which have been completed and the Bulemin Road, which is currently under construction.
Some residents and motorists who spoke to THE NEW PUBLISHER said they were happy their grievances will soon be over.
Other dignitaries at the ceremony were chiefs and elders of Gbawe, opinion leaders, residents among others.
