Deputy IGP Appointed In Police Shakeup
The Ghana Police Service, Yesterday, saw a major shakeup that has appointed for the first time since 2013, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in the person of COP James Oppong Boamah.
Other senior police officers have also been reshuffled in command positions at the Police Headquarters, a statement by the Director-General Public Affairs of the service, ASP David S. Eklu has revealed.
Prior to his elevation COP Oppong Boamah is the Director-General Administration at Police Headquarters.
The Deputy IGP position is part of the Police Service Regulations under CI 76 but has since been vacant for the past five years.
In all, 14 senior officers have been given new positions to head.
As part of the reshuffle, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye vacates the position of the Director-General of Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to Research and Planning whiles, COP Prosper K. Agblor moves from Welfare to Legal and Prosecutions with COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno moving to Motor Traffic and Transport Department from Director General Police Intelligence.
Other Director Generals who have been reshuffled are COP George A. Dampare to Welfare and COP Beatrice Vib-Sanzuri goes to PIPS.
COP. Mr Yaagy Akuribah heads for National Patrol Department and COP. Mr Maxwell Sakipasgo Atingane is now Commandant, GPCSC.
While COP. Mr Nenyi Ampah-Bennin takes up Special Duties, COP, Mr Isaac Ken Yeboah takes over as Director-General of Administration.
DCOP Mr Fred Adu-Anin is the new DG for PID whilst DCOP George Tuffuor takes over as DG for Finance.
DCOP George Alex Mensah is moving to Operations whilst DCOP Nana Asomah Hinneh is moving to HRD.
ACOP Mr Owusu Donyina is now Second-in-command (2/IC)DG for Finance, DCOP Patrick Atampugre as DG, National Protection Directorate and DCOP Samuel Monney as DG Technical.
